INTERNAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

An Internal Advisory Committee (IAC), composed of Dr. Michael Gilmore (Vice President for Research at the OUHSC), Dr. David Parke (Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology), and mentors (Drs. McGinnis, Matsumoto, Floyd, Howard, and Naash), assists the PI in administering the COBRE award. They have contributed to the development of the COBRE plan, to the preparation of this proposal, and to the selection of the five PJIs and their projects. This group will meet formally each month to discuss issues relevant to the mentoring program and to advise the PI on other aspects of the program. This group will monitor the activity of the core modules to determine their effectiveness in meeting the needs of the PJIs. This group will also be involved in planning educational activities designed specifically for the PJIs, including the Visiting Scholar Program, professional interactions between the PJIs, and grantsmanship and career survival classes offered to the PJIs. Finally, this committee will advise the PI in the nomination of PJIs to propose to the External Advisory Committee (EAC), for their selection to replace members of the initial cohort as they achieve R01 funding and are weaned from the COBRE award.
